Head to Head Book Wars
In class we have been working on a Persuasive Writing Unit. Specifically, we have been looking at some types of Propaganda used to convince people that a particular idea has merit. Using the different types of Propaganda:
- Name Calling
- Glittering Generality
- Bandwagon
- Testimonial
- Red Herring
- Withholding Facts
I want you to create an advertisement to “sell” your outside of class reading book to the class.
- You must start by talking about all the good qualities of your book using persuasive rhetoric to convince your audience to read it. Specifically, use the following types of propagandas: Glittering generality, Bandwagon and Testimonials.
- You must talk about why your outside of class reading book is so much better than the outside of class book being read by your competition (see list below) using: Name Calling, Red Herring arguments and Withholding Facts.
- Finally, conclude your sales pitch by making your strongest: Pathos, Logos and Ethos arguments about why the class should read your outside of class reading book.
In class on Friday, May 18, 2012 we will be presenting your blogs with a class vote on who did the job making a sales pitch about their outside of class reading book.
