Course Title: BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

Course Description:
Students will learn to frame residential buildings using accepted framing member spacing, layout, framing floor systems, interior and exterior walls, creating rough openings, and roof systems. This course covers the various types of foundations and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Demonstrations and safety for hand and power tools used in the construction industry will also be emphasized. This will be an exciting opportunity for students in this class to do community service, as this class is going to build a Habitat for Humanity House.

Course Description:
This course is designed to explore science and mathematic principles using hands-on projects. Its focus will be to build on the knowledge and skills students have learned in middle school technology class. The projects will include units in: rocketry and flight, structure design and testing, CO2 automotive problem, robotics, and others.

This is an introductory course in general home maintenance. Areas covered will be basic tools, electrical, plumbing, framing, roofing, interior trim, drywall and painting, appliance maintenance and repair, and concrete flatwork and block laying. Hands-on activities will be used extensively to learn the course objectives.

Course Title: ENGINEERING DRAFTING

Course Description:
An introduction to the basic skills of engineering drawing using drafting tools and equipment. Students will learn drafting standards while doing projects in design, layout, and finished drawings. Basic Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD) will also be used throughout the course.
*Alternates every other year with Architectural Drafting.
