Course Description:
The first nine weeks of the course will cover the study of the rights adn responsibilities of citizenship within a democratic country. Focus will be on the community, the three levels of government, the legal system, and the economic system.
The course content during the second nine weeks will acquaint students with human experiences from the western and non-western world. Themes will focus on the historical effect of economic, technological, geographic, political, and social influence on the development of a culture, the interdependence of cultures, and the conflicts that have resulted or may result. Students will examine and evaluate options for resolution of these conflicts. This course will focus on regions, instead of individual countries. This course will help prepare students for the MEAP test. This course is required for freshman.

Course Description:
Applied economics is an in school, fully accredited course introducing economics to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students use a textbook, a study guide, a computer software developed and produced by Junior Achievement. Theoretical learning is enhanced by the experience of organizing and operating a "student company" by a computer simulation, and by weekly visits from a business consultant.

Course Description:
U.S. Government investigates the entire American federal system of government from the national level to the local level. Each level will be tied into the current political scene and how the student can play a part in that scene. Added emphasis will be placed on the nature of politics adn its role in society.
Geography will encompass the use of knowledge of spatial patterns on earth to help understand processes that shape human environments. Knowledge of geography will enable students to analyze the physical features and cultural aspects of our world. Students will describe, compare, and explain the locations and characteristics of places, cultures, and settlements.
