Course Title: SPANISH I

Course Description:

First year Spanish is a one-credit introduction to the Spanish language. The course work comprises vocabulary development, pronunciation skills, conversation, grammar study, and basic composition in the language. Simple dialogues will be presented by the students also. Selections written in Spanish concerning the culture of the Spanish-speaking world are also read and discussed. Evaluation is of both written adn oral performance. Spanish is recommended for the college bound student.

Course Title: SPANISH II
Grade Level: 10-12
Prerequisites: Spanish I with at least a C average or special permission from the teacher
Credits: 1

Course Description:

Second year Spanish is a one-credit course and a continuation of Spanish I. The student is expected to express himself in spoken and written Spanish more frequently and with greater clarity through the use of conversation practice, grammar study, and composition. The students will be active participants at all stages of learning.

Prerequisites: Spanish II with at least a C average or special permission from the teacher

Course Description:

Third year Spanish is a one-credit class and a continuation of Spanish II. The student will be required to communicate in Spanish through conversation, discussion, and writing. Communication is the primary focus therefore it will be conducted all in Spanish. In depth study of Hispanic culture and literature is also included.

Course Description:

Fourth year Spanish is an advanced course. The student will be concentrating on the four main skills of becoming fluent in the lanuage; reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Cultural competency will be a major proficiency goal.
