What is the Literacy Center?
The Literacy Center is a general education program which serves all Dansville Elementary students. It is funded in part by the Title I portion of the No Child Left Behind Act.
Where is the Literacy Center?
The Literacy Center is located next to the Dansville Elementary Library (the SBRC).
Who comes to the Literacy
Center? 
Students needing extra help in
learning to read or improving their literacy skills come in small groups for 30
minutes at a time. They may come
anywhere from once a week to five times a week.
Eligible students are selected from
scores on standardized tests, informal tests, and teacher recommendation.
What services does the Literacy Center provide?
In addition to providing support for students
who need help, the
Literacy
Center:
Early phonics and phonemic awareness
Reading and writing strategies
Comprehension strategies
Test taking

Hold occasional meetings for parents so they may
understand the literacy process and learn ways to help their children.
