Dansville Alumna Coaching at Florida International

Lindsay Bowen, Dansville alumna and former Michigan State women’s basketball star, is entering her second season as an assistant at Florida International. “I would love to put a program on the map or take them to a national championship or win championships,” Bowen said. “That’s what I dreamed about when I was a little girl and it came true in the playing days, so hopefully it comes true in the coaching days too.” Coaching and working with younger players has always had an appeal to Bowen. “I’ve always wanted to stay in the game basically,” Bowen said. “I actually ran my own camp in Michigan for five years and that was super rewarding to teach the girls and motivate them and encourage them and empower them. And that’s basically why I’m in coaching.”

Dansville Alum Creates Engineering Endowment

Sara Venn, who graduated in the Dansville Class of 1999, along with her husband, Dustin Ruh, have created an endowment to fund a scholarship for the School of Materials Engineering.  The proceeds of this endowment helps undergraduates with financial obligations associated with studying abroad.

Sara and her husband have both experienced international travel and business abroad, which fueled their passion for starting this endowment, as they feel there is a a need to expose students to cultures outside of North America.

According to the Purdue Alumni web article that was shared, Venn participated in EPICS and held multiple roles with Purdue Student Government (PSG), including serving as student body vice president in 2003.  Ruh participated in a variety of organizations including PSG, Old Masters, President’s Council, and selection into Mortar Board in 2002.

Note:  The information in this article was sent to the school from the Purdue Alumni website.
